Luang Prabang
“Eat Street”
$1 buffet dinner…
The beautiful temple
buildings in Luang Prabang…
Offerings of sticky
rice… Be careful where you step…
We made the most of these
little stalls which were everywhere…
We cycled to the Golden
Temple just outside of Luang Prabang…
“Chicken on a stick” on
Eat Street…
Another tuk-tuk journey to the idyllic waterfalls outside Luang Prabang…
Even monks have to have a
bath…
The Royal Palace grounds…
Sunset over the Mekong
River…
6am every morning… monks
receiving alms (sticky rice) from the locals…
Muang Ngoi Neua
After 3hrs of bumpy
minibus journey from Luang Prabang,
we boarded the little boat
for the 1hr journey to Muang Ngoi Neua
village…
The view from our $6 per
night bungalow balcony…
Climbing to the
viewpoint…
30min walk from Muang Ngoi is this little lunch
spot…
Rush hour in Muang Ngoi…
Katy’s breakfast cat…
Rules and regs, Laos style. Make sure you comply with items 5 & 6…
Another shot from our
balcony…
Luang Namtha
Katy complained about the
slot being too small to post her complaint…
Our offering for a safe
onward journey. A whole 25cents probably
only gave us 3rd party cover…
Cruising around Luang Namtha on the 125cc power
machine…
The morning market,
picking up supplies for our overnight trek…
Every lettuce needs a
handle…
Our lunch stop along the
way…
Eventually arrived at the
mountain top village, where we were greeted by the local Lahu
kids… I think we
were as much a tourist
attraction as they were to us…
This was our
accommodation, sleeping on a bamboo platform…
The village elders. The stylish comb signifies marital status.
Boonmee, our guide and cook,
preparing breakfast in our hut…
The village ladies
checking out what he’s up to, amazed to see a man cooking…
Early morning wake up to
find that we were above cloud level…
The little huts in the
foreground are where girls over 15 sleep until they are married.
The entire village…
