Tomato sauce

The tomatoes say GO, so off we head to Mildura to help the folks with the annual sauce making.

First we get the tomatoes (12 boxes of
the red stuff!)…
These are Roma tomatoes, all the way
from Kyabram about 5 hours from Mildura…
Then we cut them in half, shake out the
seeds and the juice, and then quarter them…
Heinz doesn’t put this much love and attention into their tomatoes!!
The cut tomatoes are then put through
the sauce machine… fixed to a 30 year old electric contraption so Dad doesn’t
have to wind the handle…
Then comes the bottling process…

And here’s the final result – and lots
of it…

And there we have it… 190 bottles in total…
